The beginning of this build was so promising. Everything since has been a literal nightmare. Every single phase of the process has been beyond frustrating. It started with permitting and grading and has continued through until now with the sloppiest drywall and painting I’ve ever seen. I signed a contract with The Barndo Co. in June of 2023 and I’m still not in my house. I was told by Ross (one of the owners of the company) that they tell people 6 months for a completed build, but they shoot for 4 months. My family is now having to go through a second Christmas disappointed.

Working with Amanda has been terrific. We are novices when it comes to new home designs and builds. Amanda had us visit several homes in Greenville and walk us through the process. Her communication has been top notch and her patience is outstanding. She has really listened to us and made it the best customer experience that we could imagine.

Barndo Co just built the first barndo in Conway, SC for my husband and me. Alishia Fields walked us through the process. She was great at answering questions. Once the build began it was a little rocky, but things changed quickly and …we just passed our last inspection today.Once onboard, our new project manager Scott Anderson, made it enjoyable and smooth. His communication, work ethic, knowledge, and skills are wonderful. He was on site and helpful at every turn during the build. Anyone interested in a Barndo in the Myrtle Beach, Conway, Georgetown area - we highly recommend Barndo Co. Thanks Barndo Co for our beautiful home!!

Amanda Verrips is an excellent person to work with as we went through the process of building a home. We chose the Maple 2 home . We also wanted to make some changes to the front of the house. She helped us in every step of the process answering our questions and conveying them to the architect. Her follow and attention to details was very helpful. She would answer our questions expeditiously often after normal office hours. Her knowledge the process and of home decorating was invaluable in the selection of options and picking among so many options to finish the interior. We have now transition to the production phase which she managed the transition by going to the site and discussing our desires with the production manager. Groundbreaking took place a week ago and we receive up dates and pictures through the portal which keeps us informed. We are on schedule and looking forward to our home and looking over the valley and the Smoky Mountains.

Started planning with the Barndo Co. in late 2022 it took awhile to get my permits thanks to the county I live in, but after all permits finally came in we got started in 2023 designing our home, worked with a designer in Oklahoma, Jeff Frye, he was awesome to work with, over the phone and via zoom, we told him what we wanted, so we started with the Maple 1 and expanded it into the Maple 2. He would make the changes as we were on the phone with him and after all plans were decided on for sure he inked them in stone and emailed them to us. We met with the Barndo group and they gave us the price for the home and we agreed to it.We got started building in July, again had to wait on another permit from the county. We had a couple of job superintendents, because the company started growing, that were good, then we got Dan Massimo and he was a ball of fire, he got things moving and moving quickly. He was on top of everything, he came by weekly and sometimes more. When we were getting close to the end he was there 2 to 3 times a week to make sure things were being wrapped up. And we moved in on time. The owners TJ and Ross would always take time to speak when I would go by the office, they always asked if I needed anything, if I did they would talk with me about it or call the person in to speak with me then didn't have to come back. Again thanks to the entire Barndo crew and especially Dan Massimo for a great house that is solidly built.

Amanda Verrips was very knowledgeable. Every time I called she answered immediately with any questions I had. She walked through each step and guidance even for things that were not specially related to barndo she helped beyond her duties. She was very well versed in Decision that were beneficial for me for looks price and quality. Would recommend for your barndo needs. Quality work indeed.

We recently had the pleasure of working with The Barndo Co to build our forever home, and we couldn't be more thrilled with the final product. From the very first contact to the completion of our home, the entire process was handled with professionalism, expertise, and genuine care. The team at The Barndo Co demonstrated skill and dedication throughout the project. They managed unexpected scenarios with ease, ensuring that our vision was never compromised. Their ability to adapt and find solutions gave us peace of mind during the construction process. From our Sales Consultant Olivia Fattah to Project Manager Charles York, the process of a new build became much easier. Olivia's insightful guidance and Charles' meticulous management made the journey smooth and a bit less stressful. Their combined efforts and attention to detail ensured that everything went according to plan, and any challenges were swiftly addressed. They communicated clearly, keeping us informed and involved every step of the way. Their attention to detail and commitment to quality were evident in every aspect of the build. In full transparency, the length of time it took for the build was our biggest challenge. However, the quality of the workmanship and the dedication of the team made the wait worthwhile. The delays were managed with clarity and communication, which helped lessen the impact and keep us reassured throughout the process. We are forever grateful for all the hard work that went into making our dream home a reality. We are now living in a space that perfectly reflects our vision and lifestyle. We wholeheartedly recommend The Barndo Co to anyone looking to build their home.

We watched their podcast for a good bit and really liked how genuine and upfront everyone was, so we decided to go through with their onboarding process. Let me first say that Shannon was very respectful and professional, but unfortunately we were given incorrect information on their cost. We were told they had a special and to pay $2500 which includes two revisions to the Floorplan of our choosing. So we made our first edit and sent it in. Upon review and 3 weeks after paying, we were told that we needed to pay an additional $2500 to make any changes or go fully custom. Now she apologized and said she made a mistake, which is fine because everyone makes them, but this was only found out 3 weeks after we paid, and the company didn't immediately try to resolve the issue, just asked for the additional $2500. We thought it was odd that we would be spending hundreds of thousands of dollars with them, but they were willing to lose that over a $2500 mistake on their part. Either way, we requested a refund and got it about 2 weeks after the fact due to certain individuals being out of office. Again, who we dealt with was professional and admitted the mistake, but we felt it was better to take a step back and look elsewhere.

Absolute worst experience. Spent months with these people including their design services and site visits to my lot. Day comes to start planning for ground breaking and they bail on us citing problems with their builder. I will say they gave us our money back for the design phase costs and that Amanda was great to work with. So much time, money and effort wasted! As far as delivering what their company promises- BEWARE. It may be a complete waste of time!

The tragedy of this review is that in order to post it I have to give Barndo one star. I not only agree with my wife Amy Bowden’s earlier review about our experience with Barndo, but also with other recent reviewers like Patrick Ariail and N. Spearman whose experiences mirror our own with such accuracy that I can’t believe they weren’t involved in our project. The ONLY thing of value that Barndo did for us was hire a subcontractor architect in Oklahoma who did an excellent job of designing our house. This is where the positives ended, with someone who doesn’t even work for Barndo. Just like with Patrick Ariail, we too did not get any pricing for our project for seven months. During that seven months we concluded that Barndo had zero interest in our project and would have done nothing to move it along had we not pushed and demanded deadlines. At the start of our association with Bando we were assigned to work with an individual named Jacob. Throughout the referenced seven months Jacob was consistently nonresponsive to our email inquiries, did not seem to know what he was doing, claimed that he had told us things earlier in the process that he had not, and was otherwise unhelpful in every respect. On the occasions when he finally did respond to our pointed email inquiries (presumably because he felt he had no choice) he mostly did not offer substance but instead repeated his favorite go-to sales platitude: “I can’t wait to see this beautiful home become a reality.” He never once gave us any feedback or guidance on where we were going with our budget based on the material selections we were making. As the pricing delay turned into months and into more months Jacob claimed that “not a day goes by when I don’t touch your project.” Ridiculous. We sent numerous emails not only to Jacob requesting action but also to his supervisor, Alishia. Alishia never responded to any of our concerns even when it became obvious that things had gone off the rails. She later claimed that she doesn’t interact with the customer even though we had early-in-the-process calls with her wherein she interacted with the customer. The final insult involved a disorganized and amateurish pricing document that Jacob at long last created. This pricing document, in addition to including obvious mistakes that Barndo admitted, contained a section entitled “upgrades“ that listed out all of the upgraded additions we had selected that Jacob claimed were the reason for the massive overage above our budget. Fine, we expected that upgrades could increase cost. This pricing document, however, in addition to charging us the extra cost for every upgrade, also randomly changed the underlying square footage cost from Brando’s promised $160.00 per square foot to $200.00 per square. This change added an additional $137,000.00 in cost to our home. We were confused. Jacob stated that the overage was entirely explained by the listed upgrades, so why the random increase in the underlying square footage charge? We asked Jacob and Alishia for a factual explanation for why the square footage increase. Jacob’s response was laughable: “Because Alishia said so.” Of course Alishia remained underground and said nothing, sticking with her commitment to have no involvement with the customer, never mind that it was apparently her pronouncement that was the issue at hand. That was it. We were done. What a waste of seven months. Good luck if you go with Barndo Co!

Our experience with the Barndo Co. has been nothing short of fabulous! They have been very attentive to our wants/needs and have kept us in the loop throughout the whole process. We have been impressed with their standard and work ethic compared to other companies. It is evident they care about their customers and quality of work. We worked with Jacob, who has been a tremendous help. He has provided an immense amount of TIMELY knowledge and advice; there isn’t a question we’ve asked where he didn’t have an answer. With us being first time home builders, he has been honest, patient, and reliable every step of the way. Would recommend both him and the Barndo Co. to anyone looking to build their custom dream home.EDIT: As we get closer to breaking ground, we are extra grateful for the help from Jacob and Darick, our project manager. Couldn’t say enough good things about the help and guidance they’ve provided us! They have stayed on top of our project and check in frequently to make sure things are getting done!

Waste of time and a lot of money. There was no true process or what to expect during any part of their "on boarding." Paid $7500 for custom PDF plans. Asked for an owner to call us multiple times so we could nail down questions. Never happened.Had to call multiple times to ask what we needed to do next. It felt like we had to chase them down. Went to a design meeting where we were told standards from when we started the process in 2023 had now changed. No customer, building a house, wants to have things change mid process. We decided it was best for us to find another builder we could trust with our money.

Where do I start? This will be lengthy but will include all facts about the horrible experience that my wife and I had with this sub-par company. We signed up with Barndo in April 2023 with their silly “onboarding” process. I don’t see how this is a real process more like waste of $5k. For $5k you get house plans that any architect can design for less than half the price. Barndo pays $1500 to their contracted architect person and they keep $3500 for themselves to get you a price to build your home. “What a bargain” for us. Most Contractors will get you a price to build your home as they are working to earn your business but not Barndo, pay them now and buckle up for the horrible experience. I’m not real sure why the employees are called sales people. More like order takers. We got paired up with Olivia in the Duncan office. On the inside TJ and Ross claim her to be the top sales person for them. If she’s the best, I feel for the other clients that get someone else. She is poor at best! She was slow to respond, wait 3 days to respond to an email and another 2-3 days to respond to your response. We went into this with a solid budget on the build up front and didn’t waiver from that through the process. It took Olivia and the Barndo co almost 7 months to get us a F&(@@:@ price on our home and when she did it was $90k over budget and that was us removing most all upgrades. During this process of seven months, there were a lot of emails back-and-forth between my wife and Olivia discussing details and small things to change within the home that’s to be expected when building a house. What should happen is Olivia pick up the phone call and call her client and have discussions over the phone about the details that are of concern or warranted to be changed. Email can be sent for documentation. But instead, Olivia only emails and takes what could be a 15 minute phone conversation and turns it into three weeks before us resolved. I get it she may be busy. She probably has a lot on her plate. I don’t care, I’m a client and if I respond to you, I expect a response back by the end of business even if you don’t have the answer. You can tell your customer I got your message. I didn’t get it resolved today. I’ll be on it first thing tomorrow. That’s business 101. This place has got a long way to go. I know they have a lot of clients. I know they’re building a lot of houses, I can’t imagine that the process is really good for these homeowners. There are so many details that I would love to share on this post, just not enough space to discuss it. I cannot say one single positive thing about my experience or interaction with this company. At the end of the day, My wife and I decided to FIRE The Barndo co. If they cannot get our house plans right and keep us in budget and be fair about the things we wanted and take seven months just to get us a price. How in the world could the process of actually building the house be better? My answer to that there is no way the build process could be better having to deal with that company. We found a true custom Home Builder to build our house. He got us a price in two weeks to build our house.( Barndo 7 mths) We got paired up with our builder end of December 2023. We changed a few small things around on the plan. Went through lending and started grading work 2nd week of March. We had a few weeks there of big rain in the beginning that slowed up the grading process. Our home has the slab and porches fully poured and the entire home has been framed already. Getting ready to start on the metal roofing and windows in the next week. It’s ashamed all of those months we wasted with the Barndo our house would be built by now. The way I see it the Barndo Co cost us much more than $5000. It cost us months of wasted time lost sleep, major frustrations. The big regret with trying to do business with the Barndo. They ruined the joy and excitement for my wife building her dream home. My advice to anyone entertaining, using this company, run far and fast find another Builder.
