Terrible experience with some of the people/contractors they hire! Our building on the inside looks like 5 year olds did it! (Example: our boards aren’t even cut off in some places they’re just left standing, the windows leak and the roof! ) very disappointing

We have had the pleasure of Summertown building us a barn/workshop and custom home this year. We have are so pleased with their work and management of the jobs.They have great teams of staff and contractor crews across the board. From Will in sales, Larissa, Kortney, Nikki in project coordination and support, Summer with coordination on the house. Having contacts just a call or email away and eager to help is invaluable. Independent contractor crews were fantastic: Victor on the barn build, Charles on concrete, Mario on the house. They were all outstanding- friendly and happy, always stopping to answer our questions when we came to the site. We had zero worries and have been so impressed with their process every step of the way. Everyone that has been to our home site comments on the quality, soundness and attention to every detail.As a woman with zero experience with a build- they made sure I was informed and comfortable from start to finish. Summertown products are outstanding. I’m so pleased to say that in a span of 6 months they have turned our dream into reality. I’m singing their praises from Pinson, Alabama and would recommend them a million times over.

Derek Stoll and Summertown metals have been awesome, they built our custom dreamhouse and although there have been a few bumps in the road they have been wonderful. Derek Stoll has worked diligently to correct any issues that have risen. Summertown and there the whole team work hard to make the process as easy as possible. We were building while living 700 miles away which is an obstacle in itself. Any time we had an issue they worked hard to resolve it. They are very dedicated to building high quality houses at affordable prices. We would recommend them 100%.

10/14/2024 We were going to order a building from Summertown. I had worked out the details on the building with the sales rep. He told me he needed a deposit. I gave him a credit card to use. Next thing I know, I get a contract from someone else in the company for me to sign. After reading this contract, it is extremely one sided and they do not warrant the workmanship of the contractor they send to erect the building. On 10/18/2024 I brought this to the attention of my sales rep, he was extremely defensive. I told him we would not be purchasing the building based on the contract. I also sent the individual that sent me the contract notice that I would not execute the contract. I found out that they had already charged my credit card the amount for the deposit on 10/14/2024. I told them they needed to refund the deposit. That individual eventually sent me an email on 10/21/24 that the contract was voided and a refund was submitted. On 10/31/24, they had not processed my refund. I had to contact my credit card company and file a dispute. They are Johnny of the spot to charge the deposit, but they do no want to refund when they should not have processed the charged until the contact had been signed.update - refund was returned 11-4-2024

We had a great experience working with Derek and all of Summertown. We chose a Pettus floor plan and made a couple minor modifications which was very easy and smooth to complete. The construction started as promised and the crews were here when expected. Not only did we have Summertown build our home but also a 60x48x16 pole barn. We highly recommend Summertown for any product or service they offer. We don’t ever want to move again, but if we did, we’d 100% use them again.

I highly recommend reaching out to Summertown Metals if you are looking to build a house or shop. We worked with Derek and the process was great from start to finish. Derek listened to what we wanted and was always available to answer questions if they came up. We will definitely reach out to STM again in the future when we’re ready to build a shop, but for now, we couldn’t be more excited to get into our new home!

We were going to use this company for a turn key home. After different conversations with people from our town we decided not to. We found another builder but he still gets his materials from Summertown. The concrete side of Summertown has been an absolute nightmare. We were unable to get our garage doors installed due to a concrete issue. So my spouse spoke to the concrete department side on Thursday evening 09/05 and said he will send a crew out this past weekend to fix it. We noticed it was still not done on Sunday evening 09/08. So my spouse called Monday morning 09/09 and the concrete guy LIED and said the crew had come out and fixed it on Saturday (when they did not) so fast forward to 6:00pm on 09/09 and a crew showed up with no proper materials to fix the issues, didn't really speak good English also and now they will have to come back another day hopefully to actually fix it so we can move forward in the building process. Also getting a phone call saying the driver who delivered the materials lost the 42,000 check we wrote for the materials doesn't help either. Also sending one person to unload an entire trailer of material for a home is awful. If my spouse wouldn't have been there I don't think he could have got the doors and windows unloaded himself.

I have been around construction for over 35 years and have seen just about everything-the good, the bad, and the ugly!!!These guys were very helpful and responsive to my needs. The package that they sold me was first rate-all good wood. JM Construction did an excellent job of erecting the hay barn. I watched everything they did and it was “spot on”!!! I am planning on getting another hay barn, but bigger (40 x 84) in a couple of years. I very highly recommend Summertown Metals and JM Construction-phone number: 931-548-9628I recently had Summertown Metals and Johnny Byler put a shed on the side of the barn. They did an excellent job (18' x 48') and they were done in about 7 hours - start to finish. I wish that I had done it sooner.

I had heard good things about summertown and decided to try them on my first house. I only had a general idea of what it takes to build a house. Summertown answered all of my questions and charged very reasonable prices on the materials. The real magic was when they actually got out to build the frame. They had it up in no tome at all and everything looked great. We had actually provided them with an incorrect measurement and they found a solution with almost no trouble. Overall it was a great experience

As a commercial contractor I hold my standards / expectations higher than most. To my surprise and relief, Summertown Metals did a terrific job with the quality, professionalism and schedule on my farmdominium. I was very pleased throughout the design, customization and build. I’ve let them build my barns for years and now my house build went off without a hitch. If we build again, it will be with STM!

Both Sam and Marcus and crews performed great. The workers and your staff were both courteous and knowledgeable. I have been in construction and building inspection (Deputy Building Official) for the City of Huntsville since 1978. I know true workmanship and I could observe it in Summertown's work.

Summertown Metals was great to work with in building not only our home but a detached garage. Kortney, Summer, Robin and Billy were amazing with any and all questions that we had. Any little issue that came up they were quick to answer and resolve them. We would recommend them over and over to use. Please do yourself a favor and go to them first and save yourself the trouble of "making the rounds".

Boy oh boy you cannot beat the service and the quality that you get at Summertown METALS. When looking to build our RV garage I priced out myself all the materials to do it myself and then seeing that I had to rent equipment to even construct the building I would be way over budget From what summertime METALS and their contractors do for me and their pricing. Before deciding to do it yourself give Carlos a call at Summertown METALS and Price out your building and see what they can do for you. They did me right and maybe they can do you right too. I don't like to use the word problem, I had a learning experience with Summertown metals about a metal color that was delivered to me. After arriving back at there office, I have NEVER , received such great customer service in my life, Jimmy Gibbs, krisy, and Blaine dropped what they were doing, stayed after hours , and made sure I was satisfied, I wished there were more businesses that put this much time in customer satisfaction.These 3 people are making a difference in the world.Thank you Summertown metals.

The end result warranted a five-star rating.I don't usually give a review with a five-star rating as this is something that has to be earned. Summertown Metals earned this through their experience which created a solid well built shed. The monolithic slab, bolted frame, and construction were spot on. In working in the 30x50 foot workshop when it rains, there are no leaks. I could write all day about how good this shed is.These are good people producing a quality product and YES, I WOULD DO IT AGAIN.

A tornado struck us, and Derek at Summertown Metals immediately offered help. His team covered our damaged house with tarps to prevent further damage. I chose Derek and his team to rebuild my house, and their work exceeded my expectations. They were tremendous. Derek was available by phone or in person. He offered upgrade ideas and accommodated the changes we wanted. Derek and his team ensured everything met our satisfaction. We worked with them on our new shop, and Derek went above and beyond. After months and months of trying to find someone to build our garage and trying to find the right company we came across Summertown metals after going to their place and meeting with them we were very impressed. I needed a couple pieces top cap metal for a coop I had roofed with copper color roof material from Summertown Metals. When I stopped by I did not realize they were closed - but one of the owners saw me and invited me in - I realized they were closed so I apologized and said I'd come back when they were opem - he insisted I come in and asked me what I needed - then took me into the warehouse and foundg the color matched top cap - when I tried to pay he said "no charge" with a big smile. Truly one one the best cutomer experiences I've ever had!

We started contacting Summertown Metals back in July of 2023. We had the pleasure of working with Derek Stoll! He literally went ABOVE and BEYOND for us from start to finish. With all builds there WILL be hiccups but I feel the entire STM crew stood up and really tried their absolute best to fix all the things, and all the things got FIXED! Their customer service is top notch. All the subs that we had made sure we were happy with the entire process. I recommend always being present while your build is happening. Have your plans in hand. Know what you’re looking at. Educate yourself. Your house will go up sooooo fast. So, being present is so important in my opinion! Even though our house is up if anything comes up where I think I need STM I’ve been able to contact Derek and he is ready to help. He shows up. He does what he says. STM is a TOP NOTCH company. They built our house and our pole barn and we’re FOREVER thankful. The last thing I can say is don’t sweat the small stuff, you’re getting a great house at a great price!

Derek at Summertown has done an amazing job building our house. From the first contact until completion the communication has been great, I have spoke with 7-8 different employees in different departments and everyone of them were very polite and knowledgeable. Everytime I called they answered immediately. Derek has followed thru with his word from start to finish.The company seems to be well organized with all of the different departments working together seamlessly.Materials were all amazing quality and the subcontractors did an amazing job and were very knowledgeable and quick.The framing crew reached out to us and offered to make any last minute changes and told us to let them know if we had any questions or concerns about anything.The metal crew was also very communicative and knowledgeable.Overall, I would recommend Summertown Metals to anyone looking to build a house/barndominium. I have no complaints whatsoever with the company.

Derek Stoll is the man to call if you want a smooth and painless build on your Barndominium. He helped us pick out our plan, about 2 years before we broke ground! We modified the Huntley plan, and Derek and his team ran with it. We are still finishing out the inside, but any issues or questions are responded to within minutes of a text or call and remedied immediately.I highly recommended Summertown and Derek Stoll! Can’t wait to post completed pics.
